In an effort to make paying taxes more convenient and hassle free, the Office of Tax and Revenue allows the use of credit cards when paying declarations of estimated tax for individuals, current individual income taxes owed to the District, or when paying past due income taxes.
Using a toll-free number, taxpayers are able to pay their taxes with any of the following:
- Dial 1-800-2PAY-TAX [available 7 days-a-week / 24 hours-a-day]
- Enter code 6000 [District of Columbia's Jurisdiction Code]
- Complete the telephone transaction directly with the credit card processing vendor, Official Payments Corporation.
Individuals can also visit the Official Payments Corporation Web site to pay taxes by credit card over the Internet
The Office of Tax and Revenue will receive the credit card transaction from the vendor and immediately apply it to the taxpayer's account. Official Payments Corporation will charge taxpayers a nominal fee for this service based on 2.5% of the transaction amount.
